近道を探す旅人と、道を耕す庭師の話
Title: The Traveler Seeking Shortcuts and the Gardener Tilling the Path
昔々、あるところに、とても美しい花が咲く「Pzの庭」がありました。 Once upon a time, there was a garden known as “Pz’s Garden,” where the most beautiful flowers in the world bloomed.
通りかかった**旅人（急ぐ人たち）**は、庭師にこう聞きました。 One day, a traveler, one of those always in a hurry, passed by and asked the gardener:
「おい、この花を一番早く咲かせる肥料を売ってくれ。金ならある」 “Hey, sell me the fertilizer that makes these flowers bloom the fastest. I have plenty of gold.”
庭師は、ゆっくりとコーヒーを飲みながら答えました。 The gardener took a slow sip of his coffee and replied calmly:
「そんな魔法の肥料はありませんよ。ただ、毎日雨の日も風の日も、土を見て、水をやり続けただけです」 “There is no such thing as magic fertilizer. I simply watched over the soil and kept watering it every single day—through the rain and through the wind.”
旅人たちは鼻で笑いました。 The travelers laughed scornfully.
「なんだ、つまらない。向こうの店では『3日で咲く魔法の粉』を売っていたぞ。お前は要領が悪いな」 “How boring. The shop over there sells ‘Magic Powder’ that makes flowers bloom in just three days. You’re just inefficient.”
そう言って、旅人たちは去っていきました。 With that, they hurried away.
数年後。 Years passed.
「魔法の粉」を買った旅人たちの畑は、薬の副作用で枯れ果ててしまいました。 The fields of the travelers who bought the “Magic Powder” had withered and died, scorched by the chemicals.
一方、庭師がコツコツ耕し続けた「Pzの庭」は、見たこともないほど広大な森になり、世界中から動物たちが遊びに来る楽園になっていました。 Meanwhile, “Pz’s Garden,” which the gardener had steadily tilled, had grown into a vast forest—a paradise where animals from all over the world came to rest.
庭師は、木陰で昼寝をする愛猫と愛犬（ペリとテツ）を見ながら、ぽつりと呟きました。 The gardener looked at his beloved cat and dog, Peri and Tetsu, as they napped in the shade of a tree, and whispered softly:
「近道をしなかったから、一番遠くまで来れたね」 “Because we didn’t take the shortcut, we were able to travel the furthest, didn’t we?”
